Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone launched: Everything you should know

Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone has been launched in China. It is priced at $399 (roughly Rs 26,300) for the 6GB/64GB version and $479 (roughly Rs 31,600) for the 8GB/128GB version. There is information on the handset's global availability yet.

The Nubia Red Magic is fitted with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (2160×1080) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The display us covered with a 2.5D curved NEG T2X-1 glass for added protection. The smartphone sports an ergonomic design with RGB strip light on the back that supports up to 16M colors, giving it a futuristic look.

 

As for internals, the Red Magic is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC, Qualcomm's 2017 processor. While the choice of processor might disappoint some, Nubia has made sure to make it up in other departments. The smartphone comes in two memory variants. The base model offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, whereas another variant offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage.

The Red Magic comes with a feature called "Game Boost", which enables the smartphone to receive high frame rates. The smartphone has a total of four cooling vents at the back as well as a heat sink cured with three layers of graphite to prevent overheating during long gaming sessions.

On the optics front, the Nubia Red Magic is equipped with a 24MP rear-facing primary camera with Samsung 5K2X7SX lens and f/1.7 aperture. For selfie camera, the smartphone uses an 8MP wide-angle lens with an aperture size of f/2.0.

The all-new gaming phone draws power from a 3,800mAh battery unit, which is claimed to last up to 7 hours of gaming on a single charge. In terms of software, the Red Magic runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS right out of the box. In addition to all these, the device boasts of inbuilt DTS Technology and Smart Amplifier.

Nubia's Red Magic smartphone will have to take on Xioami's newly launched Black Shark gaming phone. Since the Black Shark phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, people may not opt for The Red Magic which uses the Snapdragon 835 processor. However, the Red Magic is slightly cheaper.
