OnePlus 13 Might Get This High-end Security Feature from iPhone in India

OnePlus released OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15, for its flagship OnePlus 12 model, bringing new AI-driven features, design refinements, and more. In the OxygenOS 15 beta for the OnePlus 12, there was a hint that Google's Find My Device service could locate the phone even when it's off.

This feature is currently exclusive to select iPhones and Pixel phones. However, OnePlus clarified that the OnePlus 12 lacks this capability due to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset not supporting it.

Normally, devices must be on to be located because their Bluetooth chip needs power to send signals. To address this, specific hardware and software are required to keep the Bluetooth controller active when the phone is off or has no battery.

Now, there is speculation about the global and Indian variants of the OnePlus 13 possibly having the Powered Off Finding feature. This stems from its mention in the OxygenOS 15 beta for the OnePlus 12 and its appearance in the power menu.

The OnePlus 13 is likely to ship with OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15 in both India and global markets, instead of ColorOS 15 featured on the Chinese counterpart. While OnePlus hasn't confirmed anything on this, Qualcomm spoken person reveals FastConnect 7900 connectivity subsystem used in the Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform supports the Powered Off Finding feature, suggesting its potential inclusion in the global variant of the OnePlus 13.

OnePlus 13 India and Global Launch (Expected)

The OnePlus 13 was launched last month in China. Now, the brand is prepping up for its global launch including India. While there's no official word on this, rumours suggested the OnePlus 13 could arrive in January in India.

In terms of features, the OnePlus 13 has a 6.82-inch 2K 8T LTPO OLED display that is rated A++ by DisplayMate. It also boasts a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and an adaptive 120Hz (1Hz - 120Hz) refresh rate. It also packs a 6,000 mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

For imaging, there's a triple-camera setup co-tuned with Hasselblad, which includes a 50MP Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultrawide lens with a 114° FOV, and a 50MP Sony LYT-600 periscope-telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. Upfront, the OnePlus 13 has a 32MP Sony IMX615 selfie camera sensor.
