OnePlus 5 and 5T receiving new Open Beta update
With this update, OnePlus has also improved searched history for the app drawer in its launcher.
OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are now receiving the Open Beta 9 and Open Beta 7 updates respectively. OnePlus has posted the changelog of the smartphones, and they are pretty much the same. The update brings along quite a few features, the most important one being the ability to lock screen with double-tap.

This feature was already present on several smartphones out there, but it was not available on OnePlus smartphones up until now. After installing the new update, users will be able to activate this feature from their phone's settings. In addition to this, OnePlus has also improved searched history for the app drawer in its launcher.
Here is the official changelog for the update.
Launcher
- Supported double-tap to lock screen
- Improved searched history for App drawer
File manager
- Optimized scanning logic for large files
You will be receiving the notification to install the OTA update if you have already flashed a previous Open Beta build. If not, you can flash the update manually by downloading it from the official OnePlus downloads page.
However, flashing may lead to loss of data and damaged hardware if not done properly. So OnePlus recommends that users should back up all their important personal data before continuing with the installation process.
Meanwhile, OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 6. It is expected to launch sometime next month. In terms of specifications, the smartphone is confirmed to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, clubbed with 6GB/8GB RAM and up to 256GB inbuilt storage.
