OnePlus 6 confirmed to come with a glass back
OnePlus is all set to launch its upcoming flagship phone widely known as OnePlus 6. he OnePlus 6 will debut in the smartphone market with a glass design, as confirmed by CEO Pete Lau.
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is all set to launch its upcoming flagship phone widely known as OnePlus 6. Earlier reports from the company claim that smartphone will use a new material in its design.
The OnePlus 6 will debut in the smartphone market with a glass design, as confirmed by CEO Pete Lau, this will be the first time when the firm has used glass on its flagship device. "OnePlus 6's glass design is centered around creating a 'sense of value' and 'premium hand-feel." Lau wrote in a blog post.
"The way glass transforms under different lighting is a particularly important challenge-the OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one." reads the blog post.
"Keeping industrial design honest means respecting what a product should be, rather than tacking on additional elements just for the sake of hype," writes Lau. "In addition to retaining the horizon design, we've also tried to incorporate glass materials on OnePlus 6. Although OnePlus is not the first manufacturer to use glass, we are confident that we are providing users with our interpretation of a familiar material."
This isn't the first time when the company is using glass on a phone though if you remember the Onplus X which it launched in 2015. The smartphone was available in two variants - glass and ceramic. However, the company's CEO claims the glass finish on the OnePlus 6 boasts a first for the industry.
Lua has described that the company has worked hard to achieve the finish and design of the OnePlus 6. The company has tried more than 70 types of glass before selecting the final one which will go with the OnePlus 6.
Apart from using glass back on the OnePlus 6, the smartphone is also expected to arrive with water and dust-resistant design. The OnePlus 6 is expected to launch in India in May. It would be exclusively available on Amazon India and interested buyers can register for it in advance.
OnePlus has already confirmed that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. So far, Oneplus has been teasing all the features from their official Twitter handle.
