OnePlus Ace 5 Racing and Supreme Editions Set to Debut in China With MediaTek’s Latest Chips

OnePlus is gearing up to unveil its next set of performance-focused smartphones in China—the OnePlus Ace 5 series. Scheduled for a May launch, these new devices will continue the Ace lineup’s tradition of blending gaming performance with competitive pricing. This time, the company seems ready to shake things up with fresh MediaTek Dimensity chipsets, targeting users who crave power under the hood.

The announcement came straight from Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, during a recent media interaction following the OnePlus 13T launch. While the company hasn’t shared official specs yet, leaks suggest that two models are on the horizon: the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition and the Ace 5 Supreme Edition.

OnePlus Ace 5 Series Set to Launch in China With New Dimensity Chips

OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition

The OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition is expected to debut with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor. While that might sound like just another chip name, it marks a key upgrade. Built on TSMC’s 4nm process, the Dimensity 9400e reportedly outpaces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in certain benchmarks. It uses an all large-core architecture, featuring four Cortex-X4 super cores and four Cortex-A720 large cores, a design that promises serious performance.

Leaked test results, shared by tipster Digital Chat Station, indicate the chip clocked around 95 frames per second on the Aztec 1440p graphics benchmark—a strong showing for gaming and graphics-heavy tasks. This positions the Racing Edition as a potential go-to phone for gamers who don’t want to splurge on a full-fledged flagship.

Adding to its gaming chops, OnePlus plans to include its Fengchi gaming kernel, which should optimize performance for smoother gameplay. The Racing Edition’s price is rumored to start at around 2,000 Yuan (about $275), offering solid hardware for that segment.

What Else Does the Racing Edition Offer?

Rumors suggest the Racing Edition will sport a 6.77-inch OLED LTPS flat display with an optical fingerprint sensor baked in. On the camera front, it might pack a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, while selfies could be handled by a 16-megapixel front camera.

A standout feature here is the rumored 7,000mAh battery, paired with 80W fast charging. That’s a hefty battery, aimed squarely at gamers and heavy users who need long hours of screen time without reaching for the charger.

OnePlus Ace 5 Supreme Edition

The Ace 5 Supreme Edition, meanwhile, is expected to pack even more power. It’s rumored to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, built on TSMC’s 3nm process—the smallest and most advanced yet from MediaTek. While most details remain under wraps, it’s likely the Supreme Edition will share similar display and battery specs with the Racing Edition but offer even stronger performance.

Gaming First, Photography Second

It’s clear that the Ace 5 series is being positioned for performance enthusiasts, particularly gamers. While camera hardware seems decent, photography doesn’t appear to be the main focus. Instead, battery life, processing power, and gaming performance are the key selling points.

For now, the OnePlus Ace 5 series is expected to debut exclusively in China. But given OnePlus’s history of rebranding Ace models for global markets, we might see these devices (or their equivalents) under different names elsewhere.
