OnePlus has just sent invitations for a launch event that will take place in Paris on September 19. The invitation mentions the name of a famous French designer, Castelbajac.
This indicates the Chinese manufacturer may have collaborated with Castelbajac to showcase a Special Edition of OnePlus 5. As reported by the publication TechAdvisor, OnePlus has officially confirmed that it is indeed partnering with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for a new collaboration, 'Callection'. However, it is also possible that OnePlus may launch some new accessories for its current flagship.
The launch invitation includes a text that reads "when the style meets its machine, one night in September in Paris." Clearly, the OnePlus 5 is referred as a machine here.
This is why we are assuming that a OnePlus 5 Special Edition will be launched come this Tuesday. Having said that, we have got no solid information confirming it.
To remind you, OnePlus had earlier launched a special version of the OnePlus 3T called OnePlus 3T Colette Edition. Only 250 units of the limited stock OnePlus 3T Colette Edition were released and it was exclusively available through Colette stores in Paris.
So if the company launches a Special Edition of OnePlus 5, it will most probably available in limited quantity. We don't think there will be any difference in the features and specifications between the regular OnePlus 5 and its special version. However, there will be some changes in terms of design.
The OnePlus 5 was launched at Rs. 32,999 for its 32GB model, while the 128GB model is priced at Rs. 37,999. It is likely that the Special Edition of OnePlus 5 will carry a higher price tag.
