OnePlus Open design showcased in new video ahead of October 19 Launch Date

OnePlus is gearing up to unveil its first foldable smartphone in India this week. OnePlus is hosting an event in India to unveil its first foldable smartphone, the 'OnePlus Open'.

Now, ahead of the launch, the OnePlus Open's design has been revealed in a new video by YouTuber Michael Fisher a.k.a. MrMobile. The YouTuber was invited to tour the OnePlus factory and research facility in China.

OnePlus Open Launch in India

The OnePlus Open launch date in India is set for October 19 at 07:30 pm (IST). OnePlus has shared several teasers about its upcoming foldable smartphone on X (formerly known as Twitter).

We already know that the OnePlus Open will be unveiled as the Oppo Find N3 in China. OnePlus also confirmed that its first foldable smartphone will incorporate a 37% smaller hinge than the Oppo Find N2.

The foldable will also use 31 fewer components, making it lighter. The video uploaded by MrMobile also details several aspects of the OnePlus Open ahead of its launch.

OnePlus Open Design, Build

The video reveals a punch-hole cutout on the top right corner of the foldable's screen that houses a selfie camera. You can also see the iconic OnePlus alert slider on the left of the Open. The upcoming OnePlus foldable smartphone has also gone through durability tests as well as twisting and dropping tests.

The video also reveals that the OnePlus Open's hinge will feature 69 components as compared to 100 on the Oppo Find N2. The video also reveals that the OnePlus Open will feature some kind of dust and water resistance.

OnePlus Open Specifications (Expected)

The OnePlus Open will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone will feature a large 4,800 mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging support. The OnePlus Open will run Android 13 with the OxygenOS skin on top.

The OnePlus Open is expected to feature two OLED displays. The foldable smartphone will feature a primary 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a cover 6.31-inch cover AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. OnePlus will likely use LTPO technology on its upcoming foldable smartphone.

For optics, the OnePlus Open gets a triple-camera setup on the back tuned by Hasselblad. The three cameras include a 48 MP primary sensor, a 48 MP ultrawide lens, and a 64 MP periscope shooter. The phone also features 20 MP and 32 MP selfie cameras. The phone will also feature the famed alert slider.

Tipster Abhishek Yadav suggests that the OnePlus Open price in India could start from Rs 1,39,999, putting the device in premium foldable smartphone territory. He also revealed that the first OnePlus Open sale in India will start from October 27.
