OPPO A5 5G Budget Smartphone Launched In India With Enhanced Durability And Performance

OPPO has introduced the A5 5G smartphone in India, following the A5x 5G release last month. This device features a 6.67-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 1,000 nits of brightness. The phone is certified with MIL-STD-810H for durability in extreme conditions and has IP65 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The OPPO A5 5G boasts a robust design with a 360° Armour Body, incorporating flagship-grade reinforced glass that offers 160% more impact resistance than its predecessor, the OPPO A3 5G. It also includes a proprietary high-strength alloy frame. According to the company, these enhancements significantly improve the phone's durability.

Specifications and Features

Under the hood, the OPPO A5 5G is powered by a Dimensity 6300 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM. It features an 8MP front camera and a 50MP rear camera. The device is slim at just 7.99mm thick and houses a substantial 6000mAh battery, which supports fast charging with a 45W SuperVOOC charger included in the package.

The phone's battery can charge to 30% in just 21 minutes and reach 50% in about 37 minutes. Notably, after undergoing approximately 1,700 charge cycles, it retains over 80% of its capacity, ensuring reliable performance for up to five years with regular use.

Performance and Storage

The OPPO A5 5G comes equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor built on a 6nm process, coupled with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 1072MHz. It offers two RAM options: either 6GB or an expandable option up to an additional virtual RAM of up to 8GB. Storage-wise, it provides a generous internal space of 128GB UFS 2.2, which can be expanded up to an impressive total of one terabyte using a microSD card.

The device runs on Android version 15 layered with Color OS customisation. It includes connectivity options like Dual VoLTE support for both non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) networks across various bands such as n1/n3/n5/n8/n28B/n40/n41/n77/n78.

Availability and Pricing

The OPPO A5 comes in two colour variants: Aurora Green and Mist White. The pricing starts at Rs.15,499 for the model with 6GB RAM and goes up to Rs.16,999 for the variant offering an enhanced memory configuration of up to eight gigabytes combined with storage capacity.

This smartphone is currently available through OPPO India's online store and will soon be accessible via other online platforms as well as offline retail outlets across India.
