Oppo A83 2018 launched with 5.7-inch display, 64GB native storage

Oppo today launched a new entry-level smartphone in India. Dubbed as the Oppo A83 2018, it is an upgrade of the Oppo A83 that was launched in January this year. The A83 2018 carries a price tag of Rs. 15,990, and it will be available for sale on Amazon, Flipkart, and Paytm as well as offline stores. The smartphone comes in Blue and Gold colors.

Talking about the specifications, the Oppo A83 2018 comes with a 5.7-inch full-screen display with the resolution of 1440×720 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core MT6763T processor. In terms of memory, the smartphone offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card slot.

On the optics front, the Oppo A83 2018 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Ultra-HD mode. At the front, the smartphone also features an 8MP selfie camera that is equipped with Oppo's AI Beauty Recognition Technology.

As far as the software aspect is concerned, the A83 2018 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat topped with Color OS 3.2. The handset is backed by a 3,180mAh battery inside that doesn't support fast charging.

This dual-SIM smartphone also comes with facial unlock feature, which is touted to be pretty fast by the company. On the flip side, the A83 2018 doesn't have a fingerprint scanner.

With the A83, we received immense response, and wanted to go a step further in bringing an affordable selfie camera with advanced features hence the A83 2018," said Will Yang, Brand Director, Oppo India.

"We hope that the A83 2018 with its amazing AI technology, upgraded storage, better performance and amazing color options will help our young consumers click amazing memories with friends and family," he added further.

 

Oppo A83 2018 seems to be a minor upgrade over the A83. There are only changes in the RAM and internal storage capacity. So it remains to be seen if customers will shell put Rs. 2,000 extra for this new smartphone.
