ColorOS 16.1 and OxygenOS 16.1 Are Rolling Out in India: Here's What's New
If you're using a recent OPPO or OnePlus phone, there's a good chance a major software update is headed your way this month. OPPO officially started rolling out ColorOS 16.1 stable on May 10, covering more than 20 devices across both brands. OnePlus has also begun pushing OxygenOS 16.1, with the OnePlus 15 already receiving the RC build in India.

Even though the two updates carry different names, the core experience underneath is still very similar.
Live Space Is the Biggest Addition
The standout feature this time is Live Space.
It puts ongoing activities like calls, music playback, and timers directly on the lock screen, so you don’t need to unlock your phone constantly just to check basic information. It feels like one of those features Android probably should’ve had much earlier.
Sharing is also getting a cleanup. OPPO Share now gives users clearer controls:
- Share only with your devices and contacts
- Open sharing for everyone nearby for 10 minutes
- Disable sharing completely
There’s also support for AirDrop-style transfers through Quick Share, allowing OPPO phones to exchange files with iPhones more easily.
AI Features Are Expanding Too
One of the new additions is AI Menu Translation. You point your camera at a menu or signboard in another language, and the phone translates it live on screen. OPPO says users can access it up to 30 times per month.
The more ambitious feature is Mind Pilot. It combines Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Gemini into a single chatbot-style interface while using Mind Space data for more contextual responses.
OxygenOS 16.1 is also bringing AI photo tools, AI document features, AI Translate, and a redesigned control center.
Camera Changes and Better One-Handed Use
The camera app has been redesigned with easier one-handed access in mind. That sounds minor on paper, but it genuinely matters during everyday use.
Find X9 Pro users are also getting Master Mode upgrades that were previously limited to the X9 Ultra, including preset imports and new LUMO-branded watermark options.
Eligible Devices and Rollout Timeline
The first rollout phase between May 10 and May 20 includes:
- OPPO Find N6
- OPPO Find N5
- OPPO Find X9 series
- OPPO Find X8 series
- OnePlus 15
- OnePlus 15R
- OnePlus 13
- OnePlus 13s
- OnePlus Nord 6
- OnePlus Pad 3
The second wave kicks in between May 21 and May 31, with remaining eligible devices expected in June.
Even if your device is on the list, don't expect it the moment you hit check for updates. These rollouts are staggered, and some users will get it days before others on the same phone.
The build is around 2.5GB on some devices, so downloading over Wi-Fi is the way to go.
