Oppo F5 with facial recognition, bezel-less display and AI technology launched
Oppo has been working on the selfie technology for a long time now and the company has brought some interesting features with Oppo F5.
While the Oppo F5 is scheduled to be launched in India on November 2nd the smartphone has reportedly been unveiled in the Philippines. The handset is priced at 15,990 PHP (around Rs. 20,038) and will start shipping from November 4. The pre-orders will go live on October 27.
In any case, now we have the official details of the smartphone. No more leaks and rumors hopefully. That being said, the new Oppo F5 is yet again a selfie-centric device. Oppo has been working on the selfie technology for a long time now and the company has brought some interesting features with the cameras.
Notably, the company has left out the dual camera setup at the front and has used a single 20-megapixel front-facing camera. But again, the company has introduced an A.I. beauty recognition technology which according to the company scans 200 facial recognition spots to beautify a selfie shot perfectly.
The feature also offers bokeh effect and Oppo has further claimed that the A.I Technology is capable of detecting person's age, sex, and even race, to adjust the best beauty settings for a selfie. The camera comes with portrait mode as well.
As much as it sounds cool, let's move on the see what other features and specs the phone has to offer.
Display, Processor, RAM and Storage
Basically, Oppo F5 now joins the growing list of the bezel-less smartphones in the market. As such, the handset features a 6-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek MT6763T chipset which is paired with either 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage or 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The storage is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
Oppo has also announced the Oppo F5 Youth Edition which comes with lower RAM and internal storage capacity.
Camera, Battery and Software
Oppo F5 is backed by a 3200mAh battery and it runs on ColorOS 3.2 based on Android Nougat. Further the device metal uni-body design and comes with a single 16MP camera at the back along with a flash.
Oppo F5 also comes with a fingerprint sensor at the rear and a facial recognition unlock feature at the front. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS + GLONASS.
As the Oppo F5 has made its debut it will be interesting which variants of the Oppo F5 will land in the Indian market.
