Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ Confirmed to Feature 64MP Periscope Camera in India

While teasing the launch of the next in the Oppo Reno series, the Chinese smartphone giant is bringing an industry first to India. The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ will be the first smartphone to sport a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. The feature has been officially teased by the company for the Indian audience.

The Oppo Reno 10 series has already been launched in China, so the specifications and features are mostly known. However, it was not confirmed whether the company will be launching the devices with the same feature set here. By the looks of the teaser of the 64MP periscope camera, not much is going to change.

Oppo to Bring 64MP Periscope Telephoto Camera to India

Oppo teased the Oppo Reno 10 Series will include its biggest periscope camera so far. The company has teased that the 64MP camera will have a f/2.5 periscope lens with a half-inch sensor with 0.7um pre-binned pixels. The periscope lens will enable a 3x optical zoom and 120x hybrid zoom.

The company said the periscope module on the Reno 10 Pro+ is 0.96mm thinner than that of its rivals. The company also managed to pack the highest megapixel count in the periscope camera.

How the periscope camera will function in practice remains to be seen, but it does seem quite powerful at least on paper. The primary issue with zoom lenses on Android smartphones has been the lack of details, which gets prioritized in the primary camera.

The Reno 10 Pro+ is also expected to feature a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor, along with an 8MP IMX355 camera. On the front, the smartphone is expected to come with a 32MP selfie camera.

Oppo Reno 10 Series: Key Specifications

The Reno 10 Series has already launched in China, so the specifications and features are already known. If the company launches the same models in India, the Reno 10 series will include the Reno 10, the Reno 10 Pro and the Reno 10 Pro+. Some reports claim Oppo may swap the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC on the Reno 10 and 10 Pro with the Snapdragon 778G.

The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ on the other hand is likely to come with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC along with 16GB RAM, 100W fast charging and 4700mAh battery.
