Oppo to Pull Out of France After June 30: Report
After Oppo pulled out of Germany due to a legal tussle with Nokia over patent infringement last year, the company is reportedly exiting France, according to reports. An earlier report had claimed the Chinese smartphone brand and its sibling, OnePlus will leave several crucial markets in Europe including Netherlands, UK, France, and Germany.
Oppo's European Exit Playing Out
A French publication spoke to several employees of the company in France to find out whether the company is really set to exit the country. When speaking to an employee of an Oppo contractor in France, the publication reported that the service contract with the company ends June 30, indicating that the company may not stay after that.
Furthermore, the report quoted a Oppo sales manager as saying that employees were told that the new Find X and the Reno series will not be launched in the European country. In fact, the company's foldable, the Find N2 Flip was set to be available in retail stores, but is only available online.
The report added that sales people have been asked to take down Oppo displays and to stop sales before the June 30 deadline.
Oppo, however, has maintained that it is going to continue operating in France after June 30. The company has assured users that it will continue to support and provide after-sales services for its smartphones. The phones already under use in France will also receive software updates. For now, the France website is selling all the phones Oppo launched in France.
That said, it is not clear as to what capacity it will continue. If Germany serves as precedence, Oppo delisted all its phones from its official site, but kept its wearables and hearables available for sale till recently. Now, those have also stopped selling.
