Philips 5G Smartphone Launching in India on September 2: 64MP Camera and 120Hz Display Confirmed

Philips is preparing to enter India's 5G smartphone market, with its first new-generation handset set to launch soon. While the company has yet to officially reveal the phone's name, an Amazon microsite has confirmed the Philips 5G smartphone launch date as September 2 and revealed several key specifications.

According to the Amazon listing, the upcoming Philips smartphone will launch in India on September 2. The handset will be offered in black, grey and white colour options.

The official name remains unconfirmed, although an earlier Amazon listing had suggested the Philips S7221 moniker.

Philips 5G Phone Specifications

The upcoming Philips smartphone will feature a 120Hz display with a hole-punch design and slim bezels. It will be available with 6GB and 8GB RAM, paired with 128GB and 256GB storage options.

For photography, the phone will feature a 64-megapixel AI-powered rear camera, while a 16-megapixel front camera is expected to handle selfies and video calls. The handset will also feature dual stereo speakers with Ultra Max audio.

Another highlight is its IP64 rating, which provides protection against dust and water splashes.

The Amazon teaser gives a clear look at the phone's design. It features a raised rectangular camera module on the top-left corner of the rear panel, housing two vertically arranged camera lenses and an LED flash.

The handset gets rounded corners and a flat rear panel, while the Philips branding is positioned towards the lower section. Up front, the phone features a centrally placed hole-punch cutout.

Philips, headquartered in the Netherlands, already has a presence in India across categories including domestic appliances and medical technology. Its upcoming 5G smartphone will mark a new push into India's highly competitive mobile market.
