POCO M8 5G Software Policy and Display Details Confirmed Ahead of India Launch on January 8

POCO is gearing up to launch the M8 5G on January 8 in India. Following its debut, the smartphone will go on sale via Flipkart, where a dedicated microsite has already gone live. Now, the brand has confirmed the software policy of the phone. Here's everything you should know about the POCO M8.

POCO M8 5G Features - What We Know So Far

POCO took to its X (formerly Twitter) handle to confirm that the phone will get four years of OS updates and six years of security patches. On the software front, it will ship with Android 15-based HyperOS 2 and will receive HyperOS 3.0 soon.

The POCO M8 5G is also confirmed to feature the segment's most durable 3D curved display. The phone will have a 6.77-inch (2,392 x 1,080 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,200 nits peak brightness. It will also come with an IP66 rating, Wet Touch 2.0 technology, and SGS MIL-STD-810 certification.

Moreover, the POCO M8 5G will be the segment's slimmest and lightest phone in its segment, measuring just 7.35 mm in thickness and weighing 178 grams. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, delivering an AnTuTu score of over 825K-an 83% performance boost over the previous generation. The device will support up to 16GB of RAM, including 8GB of virtual RAM, and has been drop-tested from heights of up to 1.7 meters.

As of now, the battery and full camera specifications remain under wraps. However, the teaser confirms that the phone will feature a 50MP primary camera. The device is also expected to pack a 5,520mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging and 18W reverse charging.
