Prices of Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), A7 (2017) slashed again, available from Rs. 17,990

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017) were launched in India in March at Rs. 33,490 and Rs. 28,990 respectively. However, they were retailing at the Rs 26,900 and Rs 30,900 respectively. After receiving a price cut a couple of months back, the smartphones were available at Rs. 25,900 and Rs. 22,900.

Now, the smartphones' prices have apparently been slashed again by up to Rs. 5,000. According to Mumbai-base retailer Mahesh Telecom, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is being sold at Rs. 17,990, while Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is retailing at Rs. 20,990. We are yet to hear an official confirmation on this matter, but considering the track record of the retailer, the news is most likely to be true.

As expected, the price cut comes right ahead of Diwali. Talking about the smartphones, the Galaxy A7 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017) hold a lot of resemblances with last year's Samsung Galaxy S7 in terms of design.

These smartphones have cameras optimized for low-light photography, a simplified camera UX and IP68 certification. Specification wise, both smartphones are kind of similar save for the screen size and battery capacity.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) features a 5.2-inch FHD 1080p Super AMOLED display, whereas the Galaxy A7 (2017) comes with a larger 5.7-inch FHD 1080p Super AMOLED display. Also, the battery capacities are 3,000mAh and 3,600mAh in the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 respectively.

Other than that, both the smartphones make use of an octa-core 1.9GHz Exynos 7880 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage capacity that can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The imaging aspects include a 16MP main camera at the rear with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash and a 16MP selfie camera with a similar aperture.

The other aspects of the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) include a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button at the front, a USB Type-C port, Always On Display, a 3.5mm audio jack and features such as Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and Samsung Cloud.
