Qualcomm May Release Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Ahead of Schedule

Qualcomm launched its most recent chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, in November last year. Made on cutting-edge TSMC process and featuring new core architecture, Snapdragon claimed the Gen 2 improved performance and power efficiency. Now, while we know that the chipset's successor, likely named the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, is also in the works, as per new reports, it might arrive earlier than expected.
The upcoming flagship chipset from the San Diego chip designer has already been spotted on Geekbench, revealing few upgrades.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 May Arrive As Early As October
Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at its annual Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii in November last year. While one would expect that Snapdragon would follow a similar timeline to release its upcoming chipset, reports claim that the company will launch its chipset much earlier. According to a tip by Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is ready with the processor ahead of schedule.
The tipster added that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones could arrive as early as Q4 this year. The new processor is expected to be manufactured on a TSMC process, and would power the major of flagship devices that arrive later this year and early next year. So we can expect to see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the flagship smartphones of the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Presently, there are few details available about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. A recent Geekbench listing revealed that the upcoming chipset received a single-core score of 1,930 and a multi-core score of 6,236. These scores indicate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have a 25% increase in CPU performance over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. We can expect more details about the upcoming chipset to surface closer to its launch date.

Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has a 35% improvement in performance over the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, thanks to the new Kryo CPUs ,which is based on the updated ARM v9 architecture and TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process. According to Qualcomm, the latest chipset also has a 40% improvement in power efficiency compared to its previous generation of chipsets.
