Qualcomm Showcases Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and X2 Elite Series Chips at Snapdragon Summit Goa

At the Snapdragon Summit in Goa, Qualcomm showcased the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform. This platform is recognised as the fastest mobile system-on-a-chip globally.

Alongside it, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite platforms, which are next-generation premium-tier offerings. Here's what these platforms offer:

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Platform Features

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform significantly enhances user experiences on mobile devices. It offers lightning-fast multitasking and seamless app switching. Users can enjoy extended gaming sessions with remarkable performance and power efficiency. The platform also supports agentic AI assistants that provide personalised actions across various apps.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 introduces advanced AI capabilities that enable truly personalised experiences. Through continuous on-device learning and real-time sensing, multimodal AI models understand users better. This allows for proactive recommendations and situation-based prompt enhancements while ensuring user data remains on the device.

This year's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also the first mobile platform to support recording in Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec. This feature empowers creatives to produce professional-level videos with studio-grade recording quality and extensive post-production control, thanks to its AI-powered camera technology.

Performance Enhancements

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers substantial upgrades that cater to current user demands. The third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, known for being the fastest in its class, boosts performance by 20%. This latest premium offering will be featured in flagship devices from global OEMs and smartphone brands such as Honor, iQOO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, POCO, realme, REDMI, RedMagic, ROG, Samsung, among others.

The Xiaomi 17 series has already debuted in China as the first phones equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.

Snapdragon X2 Elite Series

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is designed for ultra-premium PCs. It supports agentic AI experiences and handles computationally intense data analytics, professional media editing, and scientific research efficiently. Power users can execute complex workloads on thin and light PCs whether plugged in or on the move.

Featuring a best-in-class third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme offers up to 75% faster CPU performance than competitors at ISO power levels. A new Qualcomm Adreno GPU architecture provides a 2.3X increase in performance per watt compared to previous generations.

Efficiency and Availability

The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU boasts an impressive 80 TOPS of AI processing power—the fastest NPU for laptops globally—enabling concurrent AI experiences in Copilot+ PCs. The Snapdragon X2 Elite platform excels at multitasking across resource-intensive workloads for productivity, creativity, and entertainment in premium PCs.

This platform achieves up to 31% faster performance at ISO power while requiring up to 43% less power than its predecessor. Users can take advantage of these features even without a charger in thin and light designs. Devices powered by Snapdragon X2 Elite are expected to be available in the first half of 2026.
