Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 in India: Which Phones Will Get Them First?

Qualcomm has officially introduced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 mobile platforms at its Snapdragon for India event in New Delhi.

The new chips are focused on the things most people actually notice during everyday use: smoother performance, faster app launches, better gaming, stronger connectivity, and longer battery life.

Phones powered by these new platforms are expected to arrive in the second half of 2026 from brands like OPPO, realme, and Xiaomi.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Focuses on Gaming and AI Features

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 sits higher in the lineup and brings several upgrades aimed at mid-range and upper mid-range phones.

Qualcomm says the chip delivers up to 21% better GPU performance compared to the previous generation. It also introduces something called Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI, which is meant to reduce lag and screen stutter during navigation and app switching.

According to Qualcomm, the platform can deliver 20% faster app launches and 18% less screen stutter.

Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 in India

Gaming is another major focus here. The chip includes Qualcomm’s Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 for more stable gaming sessions, alongside support for ultra-fast 5G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Brings Big GPU Gains

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is aimed at more affordable phones, but Qualcomm is still pushing gaming improvements heavily.

The company claims up to 77% better GPU performance over the previous generation. More interestingly, this is the first Snapdragon 4-series chip to support 90FPS gameplay.

Qualcomm also says the chip can deliver 43% faster app launches and 25% less screen stutter during regular use.

The platform additionally supports Dual SIM Dual Active 5G connectivity, allowing users to keep multiple active networks running simultaneously.

OPPO, realme, and Xiaomi Phones Coming Soon

Qualcomm confirmed that upcoming Xiaomi phones will use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 platform.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is expected to appear in devices from OPPO, realme, and Xiaomi later this year.

Interestingly, OPPO also referenced upcoming devices like the Reno15 5G, Reno15c 5G, and F31 Pro+ 5G while discussing its partnership with Qualcomm.

Snapdragon Sound Is Coming to boAt Products Too

Apart from mobile chips, Qualcomm also announced a partnership with boAt to bring Snapdragon Sound to India.

The first product under this collaboration will be the boAt Nirvana Eutopia 2 Pro, powered by the Snapdragon S3 Gen 1 Sound platform.

Qualcomm says Snapdragon Sound is designed to improve wireless audio quality, reduce latency, and deliver more stable connectivity across earbuds, headphones, smartphones, and other devices.
