Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Launched: Brings On-Device AI, Wi-Fi 7, & Improved Performance Across the Board
Qualcomm has recently unveiled its latest addition to the midrange chipset market, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, heralding a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 introduced in November 2023. This new chipset is built to enhance the performance of midrange smartphones with its advanced CPU, GPU, and NPU capabilities.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Boasts Faster CPU, GPU & AI Capabilities
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, constructed using TSMC's 4nm process technology, showcases a robust CPU architecture. It features a prime Cortex-X4 core running at up to 2.8GHz, alongside four performance Cortex-A720 cores and three efficient Cortex-A520 cores. This setup delivers a 15% increase in CPU performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 launched in March 2023.

On the graphics front, Qualcomm has equipped the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 with an improved Adreno GPU, speculated to be the Adreno 732, boosting its performance by 45% over the previous generation. This GPU supports various flagship gaming features, including Super Resolution, the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, and HDR gaming, making it a powerhouse for mobile gamers.

Another significant enhancement is found in the Hexagon NPU, which now supports on-device Generative AI, capable of running complex models like Baichuan-7B and Llama 2. The ISP has also received an overhaul, with capabilities such as semantic segmentation, support for capturing 200MP photos, and Snapdragon Low Light Vision.
Blazing-Fast 5G & Latest Wi-Fi 7 Technology
Connectivity has been a major focus too, with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 featuring the Snapdragon X63 5G modem, enabling peak download speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps. It also includes the FastConnect 7800 system for superior local connectivity, Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.4, and LE Audio support. Additional features include NavIC support, LPDDR5X memory, and UFS 4.0 storage options.
Which Devices Will Get It?
Qualcomm says that OnePlus, realme, and Sharp are among the first to integrate the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset into their upcoming models. This move is expected to bring enhanced performance and connectivity to a wider audience of mobile users.
