Realme 16 5G Launched with MediaTek Dimensity 6400 SoC, 7000mAh Battery, 120Hz Display: Price & Specifications

Realme has launched a new smartphone in Vietnam on the back of the recent Realme 16 Pro series debut. The Realme 16 5G targets users who want 5G, a large battery, and a smooth AMOLED screen. Realme has not revealed launch timelines for India or other regions yet.

The handset comes in Black Cloud and White Swan finishes and offers two memory variants. The 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model is priced at VND 11,490,000, roughly Rs. 40,000. The 12GB RAM + 256GB option costs VND 12,490,000, close to Rs. 44,000 in conversion.

Realme 16 5G Specifications

The Realme 16 5G uses a 6.57-inch Full HD+ flexible AMOLED panel with 1,080x2,372 pixels resolution. It supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Realme claims peak brightness reaches 4,200 nits. DT Star D+ glass adds protection against scratches and drops.

Powering the Realme 16 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo chipset with an octa core CPU. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Buyers can choose up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage for apps, photos and files.

On the software side, the Realme 16 5G runs Android 16 with Realme UI 7.0 on top. The interface is designed for customisation and supports the latest Android privacy controls. Virtual RAM features are expected to help with multitasking, especially on the 8GB RAM variant.

The Realme 16 5G features a dual rear camera setup. It includes a 50-megapixel wide-angle main sensor with autofocus and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. On the front, a 50-megapixel selfie camera handles video calls and self portraits with several beautification and HDR options.

The camera app on the Realme 16 5G supports modes such as Night, Portrait, Cinematic, Slow Motion and Dual-View Video. These modes allow creative shooting in low light and vlogging situations. Users can switch between the rear and front cameras while recording in supported modes.

A 7,000mAh battery powers the Realme 16 5G, aimed at long screen time between charges. The phone supports 60W wired fast charging through a USB Type-C port and also offers reverse charging. This allows the device to top up accessories or other phones when required.

The Realme 16 5G carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. These ratings suggest protection against strong water jets and temporary immersion. Such durability may appeal to users in India dealing with dust, humidity and heavy rain during monsoons.

Connectivity on the Realme 16 5G includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BeiDou. There is facial recognition and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric unlock. The phone also integrates an infrared control feature for managing supported home devices.

The display offers a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio with a pixel density of 397ppi. Thin bezels provide a more immersive look for games and streaming. The phone measures 158.30x75.13x8.10mm and weighs about 183 grams, which keeps it relatively light for a 7,000mAh battery.

The Realme 16 5G packs several onboard sensors. These include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, colour temperature sensor, e-compass, accelerometer and gyroscope. A Hall sensor, laser autofocus sensor and spectrophotometer are also present, supporting camera performance and screen adjustments.
