realme 16 Pro Plus to Feature 200MP Main Camera, 3.5x Telephoto, and New Portrait Tools

realme is getting ready to refresh its Number series, and with the upcoming realme 16 Pro lineup, it’s clearly leaning hard into camera upgrades. The focus this time is portraits, zoom, and video, with the realme 16 Pro+ leading the charge.

200MP Cameras Become the New Baseline

A notable shift with the realme 16 Pro series is that a 200MP main camera isn’t limited to just the top-end model. Both the realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ come with a 200MP primary sensor, along with support for full-pixel auto zoom and lossless 1x and 2x zoom.

The realme 16 Pro+ goes a step further by pairing that 200MP main camera with a 3.5x telephoto lens. That combination is unusual in this segment and allows for a wider range of focal lengths without leaning entirely on digital zoom. realme is positioning this as a single setup that can handle everyday portraits, group shots, and longer zoom photography without major compromises.

LumaColor IMAGE Aims for More Natural Portraits

At the core of the camera system is a new imaging pipeline called LumaColor IMAGE. Rather than pushing heavy processing, the idea here is to focus on skin tone accuracy, lighting balance, and texture. realme says the system is designed to adapt to different faces and complexions, keeping portraits consistent across lighting conditions.

There’s also an emphasis on depth and background separation. The updated bokeh processing is meant to deliver cleaner edge detection, especially around hair and facial details, which is often where portrait modes struggle.

Video and Creative Tools Get More Attention

Video is another area where the realme 16 Pro+ steps up. The phone supports 4K FullFocal HDR video across multiple focal lengths, including the telephoto camera. Dual-focal 4K 60fps recording is supported, and even the front camera can shoot at 4K 60fps.

For users who like experimenting with styles, realme is adding a new Vibe Master Mode. It includes a set of preset tones tailored for portraits, events, and everyday shooting, along with manual controls for tweaking color and contrast.

AI Editing Designed for Everyday Sharing

On the software side, the realme 16 Pro series introduces an updated AI Edit Genie. It’s built around quick edits rather than deep manual controls, letting users adjust lighting, backgrounds, and styles with minimal effort. There are also one-tap video tools aimed at turning short clips into share-ready content.

The realme 16 Pro series is expected to launch globally soon, with pricing and availability details still to be announced by realme.
