Realme 16 Pro Series Periscope-Telephoto Camera Confirmed Ahead of Launch: Here's What to Expect
The Realme 16 Pro series is edging closer to launch, with India tipped to get the phone on January 6, according to leaks. Realme has not confirmed that date, but a new teaser page on the Realme India store shares several official details and hints at key hardware upgrades.
The company highlights camera zoom first. The teaser interface shows 1x, 3.5x and 10x levels, strongly pointing to a periscope telephoto camera. This suggests an optical zoom at 3.5x, with 10x likely handled through digital zoom, a clear shift from recent Realme mid-range models.

Realme 16 Pro Camera and Display Upgrades
Realme skipped any telephoto lens on the Realme 15 Pro, while the Realme 14 Pro+ carried a 3x/73mm periscope system. The Realme 16 Pro therefore appears to revisit the zoom hardware idea, and early leaks for the Chinese version mention a 200MP primary camera paired with a 6.78-inch OLED display.
Those leaked specifications apply only to the expected Chinese edition for now. It is still unclear whether the Realme 16 Pro for India will match that 6.78-inch OLED panel and 200MP sensor. Realme’s current teasers avoid confirming either detail, so both points stay in the rumour column.
Realme 16 Pro Chipset, Battery and Software Support
On performance, Realme has confirmed a Snapdragon chipset for the Realme 16 Pro. The teaser states that the chip is more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which powered the Realme 15 Pro. There is no Snapdragon 7 Gen 5 or 7+ Gen 4 yet, which leaves the exact processor identity open.
The battery section of the teaser stresses long backup rather than naming a capacity. Realme hints at a figure higher than 6,500mAh, though the message is vague. Unofficial reports suggest a 7,000mAh unit, but that number is not listed on the official page and remains speculative.
| Feature | Realme 16 Pro Teaser / Leaks |
|---|---|
| Launch (India) | Leaked Date: January 6 |
| Zoom levels | 1x, 3.5x, 10x Shown in Teaser |
| Chipset | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
| Battery | 7,000mAh rumoured |

Software is the clearest part of Realme’s message. The Realme 16 Pro will ship with Android 16 and Realme promises three years of OS upgrades plus a fourth year of security patches. With the launch date still officially listed as “coming soon”, more concrete details for India are expected closer to early January.
