Realme Becomes Fourth Largest Smartphone Brand: Crosses 15 Million Sales Mark
Realme started its journey back in 2018 and now it has been announced that the company has achieved a milestone of 15 million smartphone sale this year in India. Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India announced that the company is targetting to double the sale numbers by 2020. The company has become a major competitor for Xiaomi and Samsung smartphones in the country.
Sheth told PTI, "We will end 2019, the first full year of our operations, with sales of 15 million handsets. We are targeting to at least double this in 2020." According to the IDC report, in the third quarter Realme has 14.3 percent market share and Xiaomi jas 27.1 percent share, followed by Samsung and Vivo with 18.9 percent and 15.2 percent respectively.
According to the reports, Realme has become the fourth biggest smartphone brand in India considering the numbers of the third quarter. The company has solely focussed on the online business instead of offline-market. Sheth confirmed that Realme is the seventh fastest-growing smartphone company across the globe.
He also added that soon the company will move to offline-only series in the country which will be announced by the end of 2019. The smartphone will be expected in the mid-range premium segment. "We are lining up with more smart accessories with great performance and trendy design. Realme will become a tech lifestyle brand in 2020," PTI quoted Sheth.
The company is expecting 70 percent sale from online and 30 percent sales from the offline market. Meanwhile, the company is also planning to launch its Realme X2 smartphone and Realme Buds Air on December 17.
The Realme X2 is said to arrive with an upgraded front camera with 32MP. The design of the phone will be similar to the Realme XT but the company will introduce it in a new green color gradient option.
