Realme GT 8 Pro Launched in India With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Switchable Camera Design

Realme has launched the GT 8 Pro in India, and it's clear the company is trying to do more than just another yearly refresh. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip is the headline, but the bigger story is how Realme is experimenting with design, materials, and even how the phone can physically change its own look.

A New Take on Personalization

Realme is giving the GT 8 Pro a feature you don't usually expect from a mainstream flagship: a switchable camera module. Instead of a fixed bump, the phone lets you swap between different designs. You can unscrew the circular module and replace it with a rectangular one, or remove it altogether for a stripped-down, robotic look. Realme also plans to sell more modules separately with different finishes and materials.

It's a playful idea, but there's a functional layer to it too. The phone's design leans into the "Color-Mix" concept, letting contrasting hues and textures show through depending on the module you pick. For anyone who likes phones with a bit more personality, this is the most interesting design direction Realme has taken so far.

A big part of the upgrade story is also durability. Realme is giving the phone IP66, IP68, and IP69 protection, which means it can handle dust, rain, and rougher conditions better than the GT 7 Pro. That alone makes the device feel noticeably sturdier for everyday use.

Specs and Features

The GT 8 Pro has a 6.79-inch QHD+ AMOLED display made by BOE, running at 144Hz with 10-bit color and 2000-nit HBM brightness, protected with GG7i glass. Power comes from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with a 7,000mAh battery and 120W SUPERVOOC fast charging. Wireless charging is supported at 50W, and there’s 10W reverse wireless charging for accessories.
