Realme Continues Dream Run In Indian Market: Threat To Xiaomi, Samsung
Realme, BBK-owned company forayed in the Indian market in May 2018. Ever since, the brand has launched several budget-friendly smartphones with some aggressive set of specifications. Within just 18 months, Realme is now the fourth-largest smartphone producer in the country. According to the IDC data of the latest Q3 2019, Realme witnessed a whopping 400% year-on-year growth, surmounting up to 6.7 million units sales.
As of now, Realme holds a market share of 14.3% and it could lead over Vivo in the coming days. With OPPO, Vivo, and Realme, BBK has grabbed 31.3% of India's smartphone market, making the Chinese conglomerate ahead of Xiaomi. Before Realme, BBK heavily trusted on OPPO and Vivo to target Xiaomi in budget-focused models.
While OPPO and Vivo have made to the India's top-five handset manufacturers over the years, these brands haven't yet dominated over Xiaomi. To achieve the feat, BBK then launched Realme, which is considered as a major move. The company directly competes with Xiaomi in the price category ranging from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 22,000. And, by registering an overwhelming sales figure, Realme might pull its wagon ahead to Xiaomi, becoming India's leading smartphone provider.
By successfully acquiring the market in the budget category, Realme has taken a bold step by introducing its first-ever high-end device- the X2 Pro. The handset is available in the Indian market with two storage variants of 8GB RAM/128GB ROM and 12GB RAM/256GB ROM priced at Rs. 29,999 and Rs. 33,999, respectively.
As far as specs are concerned, the handset is shipped with a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED 90Hz display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. And packs a battery of 4,000 mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging and vapor cooling mechanism.
The smartphone will be competing directly with the Redmi K20 Pro and OnePlus 7, in the same price segment. Since the phone is recently launched, we will have to wait for some time to see the sales. And if the sales go as it has been going for cheaper phones, Realme might be on the brighter side for manufacturing premium phones.
