Red Magic 8S Pro series launched with custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, up to 24GB of RAM

ZTE has officially unveiled new flagship smartphones in its Red Magic series. The Red Magic 8 Pro was among the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Now, the new Red Magic 8S Pro and 8S Pro+ use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version or Advanced Edition chipset.

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is a faster version of the original 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, the new 'Plus' variant boosts the clock speed on the Prime core from 3.2GHz to 3.36GHz, while the GPU clock speed is increased to 719MHz from 680MHz. Theoretically, this should offer a performance boost of around 5 percent across both the CPU and GPU.

Red Magic 8S Pro Price

The Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro price in China is set at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs 45,400) for the base 8GB/128GB model. Additionally, the Red Magic 8S Pro comes in three other variants - 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB - that will set you back CNY 4,399 (roughly Rs 50,000), CNY 4,799 (roughly Rs 54,500), CNY 5,499 (roughly Rs 62,450), respectively.

The Red Magic 8S Pro comes in two shades - Silver and Black. The Red Magic 8S Pro also comes in an Aurora Edition with a transparent back that costs CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs 56,800) for the 12GB/256GB model and CNY 5,699 (roughly Rs 64,700) for the 12GB/512GB variant.

Red Magic 8S Pro+ Price

The Red Magic 8S Pro Plus price is set at CNY 5,499 (roughly Rs 62,450) and CNY 5,799 (roughly Rs 65,850) for the 16GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB models, respectively. The Red Magic 8S Pro+ arrives in the same Black and Silver shades as the standard 8S Pro.

Moreover, the Red Magic 8S Pro+ also comes in the Aurora option with a transparent back. The Red Magic 8S Pro Plus arrives in 16GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB models, which costs CNY 5,699 (roughly Rs 64,700), CNY 5,999 (roughly Rs 68,100), and CNY 6,999 (roughly Rs 79,500).

Additionally, the Red Magic 8S Pro Plus also debuts as the first smartphone to feature 24GB of RAM. The 24GB/1TB model costs CNY 7,499 (roughly Rs 85,150). The Red Magic 8S Pro+ also comes in a limited Bumblebee Edition, which costs CNY 6,499 (roughly Rs 73,800) for the sole 16GB/512GB variant.

Red Magic 8S Pro Series Specifications

The Red Magic 8S Pro series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Advanced Edition SoC paired with up to a whopping 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The two phones also feature the ICE 12.0 cooling system with a built-in fan.

The Redmi Magic 8S Pro series sports a 6.8-inch FHD+ (2480 × 1116 pixels) OLED display with a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. The panel boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and a 960Hz touch sampling rate as well as 1440Hz PWM high frequency dimming. The phone also features two shoulder triggers to assign in-game controls.

Nubia's latest gaming smartphones pack a large 6,000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support for the 8S Pro model and 165W charging for the 8S Pro Plus variant. Additionally, the Red Magic 8S Pro series also features the Red Core 2 chip to improve performance.

For optics, the Red Magic 8S Pro series gets a 50 MP Samsung S5KGN5 primary sensor, and 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro unit. Up front, both phones feature a 16 MP OmniVision OV16A1Q selfie camera sensor. The Red Magic 8S Pro series also features a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, 5G, dual X-axis linear motors, and more.
