Redmi 12 budget smartphone launched with MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, 90Hz Display

Xiaomi recently launched a new budget 4G smartphone in Thailand. The Redmi 12 arrives as an affordable smartphone with a MediaTek chipset, a high-refresh-rate display, a large battery, fast charging, and a triple-camera setup.

As of now, there is no information about the Redmi 12 availability globally and in India. So let's take a look at what Xiaomi's latest budget smartphone offers.

Redmi 12 Price

The Redmi 12 price is set at TBH 5,299 (roughly Rs 12,550) for the 8GB/128GB model. Moreover, the Redmi 12 will also be offered in 4GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants, although their pricing is yet to be announced.

The Redmi 12 comes in three colour options including - Sky Blue, Polar Silver, and Midnight Black. The phone is listed on e-commerce platforms Shopee and Lazada.

Redmi 12 Specifications

The Redmi 12 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 SoC paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. Additionally, the storage can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card. Up to 8GB of unused memory can also be utilised as virtual RAM. It boots Android 13 with MIUI 14 out of the box.

The Redmi 12 sports a 6.79-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with 550 nits of peak brightness. The screen boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and is SGS low blue light certified. The handset packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging over a USB Type-C port. The phone also features a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a headphone jack.

For optics, the Redmi 12 features a triple-camera setup on the back with a 50 MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The main camera is paired with an 8 MP ultrawide unit and a 2 MP macro lens. Up front, there's an 8 MP selfie camera with an f/2.1 aperture. The phone also boasts an IP53 rating for resistances to splashes.
