The Redmi A2 series has officially been unveiled in India, bringing two new ultra-affordable smartphones to the fray. The new line-up includes the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+. The Redmi A2 series will succeed last year's Redmi A1 series.

Xiaomi's latest entry-level smartphones arrive with a MediaTek chipset, dual-camera setups, a large battery, tall display, and the latest software. It is worth noting that both the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus feature the same specifications, although the 'Plus' model arrives with a fingerprint reader on the back.

The Redmi A2 price in India is set at Rs 5,999 for the base 2GB/32GB model, while the 2GB/64GB and 4GB/64GB variants will set you back Rs 6,499 and Rs 7,499, respectively. The Redmi A2 Plus price in India is set at Rs 8,499 for the sole 4GB/64GB configuration.

The Redmi A2 series is offered in Black, Light Green, and Light Blue colours. Both the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ will be available for purchase in India through Amazon, Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Xiaomi's retail partners starting May 23 at 12:00 noon (IST).

The Redmi A2 series is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC paired with the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Moreover, the Redmi A2 series features up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage that is expandable through a microSD card. Additionally, up to 3GB of unused storage can be utilised as Virtual RAM.

The Redmi A2 series sports a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 120Hz touch sampling rate and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The water drop notch on the display houses a 5MP camera for selfies and video calls.

On the back, the Redmi A2 series features an 8MP AI dual-camera setup. An LED flash module is also housed inside the camera island. Xiaomi's latest ultra-affordable smartphone packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging support. The Redmi A2 series runs the latest stock Android 13.

The entry-level Redmi A2 series boasts a sleek leather texture design that is resistant to fingerprint smudges. Additionally, the Redmi A2 Plus is equipped with a rear fingerprint sensor for quick and secure unlocking.
