Redmi A2 Tipped to Feature Helio G36 SoC

Redmi is reportedly preparing to launch the Redmi A1's successor, the Redmi A2. The smartphone has already received the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, so we can expect it to launch soon. Ahead of the launch, renders and specifications of the entry-level device have already leaked online.
Redmi A2 Design
According to a WinFuture report, tipster Roland Quandt has shared renders of the Redmi A2. Going by the leaked images, the Redmi A2 looks quite similar to the Redmi A1. The device has thick bezels, which is forgivable for a budget smartphone. It has a waterdrop notch at the top, which houses the selfie camera. At the rear, the smartphone appears to have a plastic-textured design.
Redmi A2 Specifications
The Redmi A2 will reportedly sport a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution. In terms of imaging, the smartphone will have a dual camera setup comprising an 8MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary camera will be able to record videos up to 1080p. Additionally, there will be a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
The Redmi A2 will come equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 chipset with a max clock speed of 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is expandable to 512GB via a microSD card.
Redmi's upcoming budget smartphone could sport a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. Additionally, the Redmi A2 will have a 3.5mm headphone jack and a single speaker. Connectivity options will include a dual-SIM slot, Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4Ghz WiFi. The device will come with Android 13 (Go Edition) out-of-the-box.
Redmi A2 Pricing, Availability
The Redmi A2 will be priced around 97 Euros (around ₹8,500) in Europe. The A2 is expected to debut within the next few weeks. The device will be available in three colorways - black, blue, and green.
