Redmi A5 Launching in India at 12 PM Today: Check Full Specifications, Features, and Expected Price
Xiaomi is adding a new device to its budget lineup today, as the Redmi A5 goes official at 12 PM IST on Flipkart. The price hasn’t been revealed yet, but all signs point to a sub-₹10,000 launch—likely similar to the Redmi A4 5G, which came in at ₹8,499.

Display and Design
One of the most interesting choices here is the display. The Redmi A5 features a 6.88-inch HD+ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a spec that's rarely seen in this segment. Most phones under ₹10,000 stick to standard 60Hz or, at best, 90Hz. So if smooth scrolling and UI animations matter to you, this could be a real upgrade.
Xiaomi also notes that the screen comes with TÜV Rheinland certification, suggesting reduced eye strain for longer viewing sessions. That's something you’d usually associate with tablets or mid-range phones—not entry-level devices.
The A5 will come in three colors: Jaisalmer Gold, Pondicherry Blue, and Just Black.
Processor
Powering the A5 is the Unisoc T7250 chipset. While it’s not a performance beast, it’s built to handle routine tasks like browsing, messaging, social media, and light gaming without much trouble.
Battery and Charging
The 5,200mAh battery is another strength here. That’s enough to easily get through a full day (or more) for most users, especially given the efficient processor and HD+ screen.
That said, fast charging support in India hasn’t been confirmed yet. Globally, the phone supports 15W charging, so we’ll have to see if that makes it into the Indian variant. It's not blazing fast, but it's a step up from the sluggish 10W charging on older budget phones.
Cameras and Features
Camera specs for India are still under wraps, but if the global version is anything to go by, we’re looking at a 32MP rear camera and 8MP front camera, which are decent numbers in this segment.
Other expected features include:
- Side-mounted fingerprint scanner for quick unlocks
- Dual-band Wi-Fi support for better connectivity
- AG frosted glass back, which may give the device a more premium in-hand feel than typical budget phones with glossy plastic backs
Pricing
Xiaomi hasn't announced the official price yet, but it’s safe to expect the Redmi A5 to launch somewhere between ₹8,000 and ₹9,500. The Redmi A4 5G came in at ₹8,499 last year, and Xiaomi will likely want to stay within that bracket to remain competitive.
