Xiaomi's upcoming affordable 5G smartphone -- the Redmi K30 5G is all set to make its debut on December 10 along with a 4G version. The company has teased various features and specifications of this device over the last few weeks. Now, the brand has officially confirmed that the Redmi K30 will come equipped with a 64MP camera Sony smartphone camera sensor -- the IMX686.

The IMX686 is the first 64MP smartphone-camera sensor from Sony which is a 1/1.7-inch sensor with a 1.6micron pixel size. However, natively, the sensor has a 0.8micron pixel size and an effective 1.6micron pixel size is achieved using pixel binning technology.

This main camera will be accompanied by an ultra-wide angle lens with a 120-degree field-of-view, a 2MP macro lens, and a depth sensor. At the front, the dual punch-hole camera cutout will house a 20MP primary sensor paired with a depth sensor. The company has also posted a couple of pictures shot on the Redmi K30 to demonstrate the strength of the primary camera and its color science.

Redmi K30 Specifications

According to the leak, the Redmi K30 5G will come with a 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution, protected by the 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G 5G will power the smartphone with at least 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The smartphone is most likely to launch with MIUI 11 on top of Android 10 OS. The 4G version will either be powered by the Snapdragon 730G or the Snapdragon 765.

The smartphone is likely to have dual SIM card slots with support for 5G and 4G networks as it comes equipped with Snapdragon X52 5G modem that can offer up to 3.6Gbps download speeds. A 4,500 mAh battery fuels the smartphone with support for fast charging via the USB Type-C port. Besides, the phone also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack.
