Redmi Note 8 With 3GB RAM To Be Launched Soon In India: Price And Availability

Redmi Note 8 made its way into India in October alongside its Pro variant. The handset was launched in two storage configurations - one with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage space and the other with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage space. As of now, both these variants were available only on Amazon and Mi.com via flash sales.

Now, a recent report by 91mobiles citing information from retail sources suggests that a base variant of the Redmi Note 8 with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage space will be released in India. It is said that the device will be released exclusively in the offline market and will not be made available online, at least initially.

Redmi Note 8 3GB RAM Variant

The Redmi Note 8 was launched in India for Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 12,999 for the two variants with 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM respectively as mentioned above. The soon-to-be-launched 3GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 8 will be launched for Rs. 9,799, claims the report. Notably, this is Rs. 200 lesser than the pricing of the 4GB RAM variant.

Except for the RAM and storage capacity, the other aspects of the entry-level variant that will be launched soon will remain the same as those of the other variants with higher memory.

Redmi Note 8 Specifications

To recap, the Redmi Note 8 bestows a 6.39-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, a 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The hardware aspects of the smartphone include a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 665 SoC teamed up with Adreno 610 GPU. Running Android 9 topped with MIUI 10.

The imaging aspects of the Redmi Note 8 feature a quad-camera module at its rear. This camera module comprises a 48MP primary camera sensor with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP tertiary macro lens, and a fourth 2MP depth sensor. At the front, the Redmi smartphone features a 13MP selfie camera.

A 4000mAh battery powers the Redmi Note 8 along with 18W fast-charging support. There are standard connectivity features including Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and a USB Type-C port.

What We Think

Given that the Redmi Note 8 base variant with 3GB RAM will be priced at Rs. 9,799, which is just Rs. 200 lesser than that of the 4GB RAM, we prefer the latter with higher memory capacity. However, if you want the Redmi Note 8 and could not get hold of it via flash sales, then the offline sale will be beneficial for you.
