Reliance JioPhone beta test begins tomorrow and while everybody is getting ready to get their hands on the new 4G feature phone, a few selected people who are part of the beta testing will get the mobile phone even before the first phase of its availability.
It is still unclear how will the company go forward with this beta testing or how it will select the beta testers. However, apart from these testers, the feature phone will be available for booking starting August 24 for the general consumers.

Jio Phone booking online and offline
You can book JioPhone either by going online or through offline channels. Basically, through the online channel, you can check MyJio app on August 24 or visit the Jio website. You can sign up for updates on the Jio.com website, by clicking on Keep Me Posted button, and filling the required details.
To register, you will need an Aadhaar number for the Jio Phone registration. Individuals can only book one Jio Phone unit at one time.
However, if you want to book more than one then you can place the pre-order in the name of your business. In order to avail this offer, you will have to give your organization's PAN or GSTN number as the business owner. You will be able to specify how many units of the phone you want to purchase, with the highest tier being '50 and Above' for bulk orders.
Once individuals submit the details, they will be informed about the latest updates through an email or SMS.
Talking about offline Jio Phone booking process then it is also a simple process. You can basically head over to an offline Jio retailer on August 24 and book the device. You will need to ask for the update while the handset will be delivered to you in September, even if you have pre-ordered it on the first day of booking itself.

JioPhone is priced at Rs. 0 and is free, according to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. However, you will need to make an upfront payment of Rs. 1,500, which is refundable after three years. Regarding the Rs. 1,500 security deposit, he said, "The security deposit is necessary to avoid any potential misuse of data."
Jio Phone delivery date
As for the delivery of the JioPhone, it is expected to be released between September 1 and September 4 for those who place the order right now. But do expect this delivery to swell up as the number of bookings will increase over the coming week.
The best time to pre-order the device might be as soon as possible in order to get your hands on it the earliest. Ambani at the Reliance AGM has also said the company aims to deliver 5 million units a week to consumers.
Reliance JioPhone Specifications
Talking about the phone itself, Reliance JioPhone sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display. The feature phone will be available in two models; one with a Snapdragon 205 processor and other with the Spreadtrum chipset.
The single SIM device has a dedicated button for torchlight and an alphanumeric keypad. JioPhone will be available in 24 regional language support, and users can communicate with the JioPhone via voice commands.
The feature phone has a built-in SOS button and the JioPhone also comes preloaded with Jio apps. The phone offers NFC support but it does not come with a WhatsApp support, though there have been some reports that claim that there will be a special version of the app specifically made for the JioPhone.
