Reliance JioPhone goes on pre-booking again; now you can book up to 5 units
JioPhone customers will get an option to recharge their device with the newly launched Rs. 49 plan, which offers 1GB high-speed data and unlimited free voice calls for 28 days.
Reliance JioPhone went on pre-order for the first time in India in August last year, after getting launched in July. The much-hyped feature phone received six million pre-orders in a single day. In case you couldn't pre-book one last time, we have some good news for you. Well, the pre-order for the device has started again. Unlike previous times, Reliance now lets customers order up to 5 units of the JioPhone with just one phone number.
What's more, the 'Keep me posted' button on the company's website is now available for all, while initially it was introduced only for businesses. Additionally, customers will get an option to recharge their JioPhone with Rs. 49 plan. Notably, this is the lowest rental plan offered by any mobile network provider till date. The Rs. 49 plan offers 1GB high-speed data and unlimited free voice calls for 28 days.
To refresh on the pre-booking charges, users need to pay a security deposit of Rs. 1,500 to own the JioPhone and the same will be refunded back to them on returning the device after three years. However, there are some terms and conditions involved in order to get the refund.
Talking about the phone itself, Reliance JioPhone sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display. The feature phone is available in two models; one with a Snapdragon 205 processor and other with the Spreadtrum chipset. It offers 512MB of RAM and 4GB of default storage space. The JioPhone is backed by a decent 2,000mAh battery.
The device features an alphanumeric keypad as in any other feature phone and a microSD card slot for expandable storage space. The handset supports voice commands and 22 Indian regional languages. There is a panic button functionality that will be enabled by long pressing the number 5 on the keypad.
On the software front, the Reliance JioPhone runs on KaiOS that is a customized version of Firefox OS. The device comes pre-installed with the Jio suite of apps for messaging, entertainment, etc. especially Jio TV which features more than 400 live TV channels as well as JioMusic and JioCinema.
Furthermore, the handset comes with an AI assistant to execute voice commands and an internet browser through which users can get access to Facebook and WhatsApp web.
