Reliance reportedly slashes LYF C459 and LYF C451 by 50%
Select LYF smartphones get a price cut.
Reliance Jio has already created disruption in the telecom and budget mobile phone market. After offering free and dirt cheap plans, the company took itself to the next level with the launch of the JioPhone that is effectively free.
Now, Reliance is in the headlines as it has reportedly slashed the prices of its LYF-branded budget smartphones almost by 50%. According to a tip we have received, the LYF C459 and LYF C451 smartphones priced at Rs. 4,699 and Rs. 4,999 will be available at almost half their price of Rs. 2,500. Both these smartphones support 4G VoLTE that has witnessed a high growth this year.
This new offer on the LYF C451 and C459 smartphones can be availed via both online and offline stores between October 2 and October 22.
This move from Reliance Jio is aimed at bringing down the price of the 4G smartphones. It comes just a few days after media reports tipping that Airtel is in talks with several handset manufacturers in order to launch a 4G VoLTE smartphone at a low price point of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 2,700 before Diwali in order to compete with the JioPhone. The reports suggest that the Airtel smartphone will have its own voice and data plans as well.
It is further said that in addition to the slashed pricing, these smartphones are bundled with 5GB 4G data per month and free Jio Prime membership as well. Eventually, the buyers of these two LYF smartphones will get Rs. 99 worth Prime membership, 84 days unlimited calls and data plan worth Rs. 399 and 5GB data each month on a recharge of Rs. 149, and other benefits. It is noted that the cumulative benefits would bring the cost of these LYF phones down to Rs. 2,392 and Rs. 2,692.
