Samsung AI Subscription Service Announced for Galaxy Smartphones Alongside Ballie AI Robot

Samsung is poised to introduce a paid subscription service for its AI-enhanced smartphones, although it may differ from initial expectations. Han Jong-hee, Samsung Electronics vice chair, confirmed the expansion of the AI Subscription Club to Galaxy phones and the upcoming Ballie AI robot.

"We will apply the subscription service to Galaxy smartphones starting next month," he stated. "Ballie will be introduced first in Korea and the US, and we plan to supply it as a subscription in Korea."

Samsung AI Subscription Club Expansion

The AI Subscription Club was initially launched last December for select Samsung home appliances in South Korea. This model allows consumers to subscribe monthly for AI-powered devices like TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines. It also includes optional repair and maintenance services, reducing upfront costs.

Samsung's AI Subscription Club is not mandatory for accessing Galaxy AI features on their phones and other devices. The company has assured users that these features will remain free until at least the end of 2025. Plans beyond this period have not been disclosed.

Five years after its initial announcement, Samsung plans to release Ballie in 2025. This development marks a significant step in Samsung's AI journey. The introduction of Ballie as a subscription service will first occur in Korea and the US.

Upcoming Galaxy Unpacked Event

The possibility of expanding the subscription model beyond South Korea remains uncertain. However, more details might emerge soon. Samsung has scheduled a Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, California, on January 22. During this event, the company is expected to unveil the Galaxy S25 series.

This strategic move by Samsung reflects its commitment to integrating AI into everyday consumer electronics. By offering a subscription model, Samsung aims to make advanced technology more accessible while providing added value through maintenance services.
