Samsung Exynos 1330 and 1380 5nm SoCs With Improved Performance Unveiled
Samsung has announced two mid-range processors for its mobile devices. The company's newest SoCs, the Exynos 1380 and Exynos 1330, include 5G support and are touted to offer improved performance over their predecessors.
Samsung Exynos 1380
The Samsung Exynos 1380 is manufactured on a 5nm process and will likely power the Galaxy A54 5G. The chipset includes four ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz.
The Exynos 1380 features a Mali-G68 GPU with five cores clocked at 950MHz. The chipset supports devices with a Full HD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. As for memory, the Exynos 1380 is compatible with LPDDR4x, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage.
Moving on to imaging, the processor includes an NPU that can compute up to 4.9TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second). Its triple ISP (Image Signal Processor) supports up to 200MP cameras. It can also handle 4K videos at 30fps.
As for connectivity, the Exynos 1380 has an inbuilt 5G modem with support for mmWave and sub-6GHz networks. It can reportedly hit download speeds as high as 3.67Gbps and peak upload speeds of 1.28Gbps. Additionally, the chipset supports GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
Samsung Exynos 1330
The Samsung Exynos 1330 is also based on the 5nm process and is expected to power the lower-end Galaxy A-series. The processor includes two Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz.
The Exynos 1330 features a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU. The chipset supports devices with a Full HD+ resolution and refresh rates up to 120Hz. When it comes to memory, it is compatible with LPDDR4X, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1, and UFS 2.2 storage.
As for imaging, the Samsung Exynos 1330 can support up to 108MP cameras. Its MFC (Multi Format Codec) can handle 4K videos at 30 fps with HEVC, VP8, and H.264 codecs.
Moving on to connectivity, the Exynos 1330 comes with a built-in 5G modem that supports sub-6GHz networks. It can reportedly achieve download speeds of up to 2.55Gbps and peak upload speeds of 1.28Gbps. In addition, the processor supports GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, and USB-C.
