Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ visit Geekbench

Both the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

Samsung turned heads at MWC 2018 with the launch of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. While the flagship duo is the center of attention right now, the company is also working on a number of mid-range smartphones. We have lately been hearing a lot about the upcoming Galaxy J series of smartphones. Other than that, two Galaxy A series models have now been spotted on Geekbench database.

The smartphones are listed on Geekbench with the model numbers SM-A600FN and SM-A605G. While it is not confirmed yet, the handsets are believed to be the Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+. Our speculation is based on the similarities of their model numbers to that of the Galaxy J8 (SM-J800FN) and J8+ (SM-J805FN).

Do note that Samsung had not any Galaxy A6 models previously, whereas the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 series are there. Presumably these models could be the first phones in the Galaxy A6 series.

Coming to the specifications, the Galaxy A6 (SM-A600FN) is listed on Geekbench with an Exynos 7870 SoC which is an octa-core processor. The processor is teamed with 3GB of RAM and Mali-T830 MP1 GPU. The Galaxy A3 (2017) and many phones in the Galaxy J series are powered by the same chipset.

The Galaxy A6+ (SM-A605G), on the other hand, makes use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The smartphone also has Adreno 506 GPU and has 4GB of RAM onboard. Both the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, which sound impressive on paper.

Looking at the benchmark results, the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ will not differ much in terms of performance. The former has scored 2605 points on the multi-core test and 723 points on the single core test. Whereas the Galaxy A6+ has obtained 739 points on the single core test and 3469 points on the multi-core test.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ First Impressions

At the moment, not much is known about the alleged Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+. However, we are hopeful that more leaks will emerge in the following days. In any case, the smartphones will be launched in the mid-range segment.
