Samsung Galaxy M36 5G Launched in India With 4K Cameras, Galaxy AI, and a Familiar Notch

Samsung has launched the Galaxy M36 5G in India, expanding its popular M-series lineup. The phone brings meaningful upgrades in several areas, but also sneaks in a design decision that might disappoint some.

Slim Design With Striking Colours

At 7.7mm thin, the Galaxy M36 5G is one of Samsung’s slimmest M-series phones yet. The back sports a clean matte finish and a vertically aligned triple camera setup.

It’s available in three fresh colors:

• Orange Haze
• Serene Green
• Velvet Black

Lastly, the frame is made out of plastic.

Bright AMOLED Display—But With a Notch

The phone features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. The screen quality is solid for this price. The back is also made out of glass, but the protection used is not specified.

However, there’s a notable downgrade here: Samsung has reverted to a waterdrop notch for the front camera—a step back from the punch-hole cutout seen on the Galaxy M35. It doesn’t affect functionality but does make the phone feel dated from the front.

Camera Setup: 4K on Both Ends, With OIS

The front camera is a 13MP shooter, and both front and rear support 4K video recording—something rarely seen in this segment.

There’s also a dedicated Auto Night Mode to improve low-light video quality.

Performance and Software

Powering the device is the Exynos 1380 chip and the device sports a vapour cooling chamber, which is interesting at this price point.

The phone comes with Android 15 out of the box with One UI 7 on top, and will get 6 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches.

Battery and Charging

The 5,000mAh battery supports 25W wired charging, but the charger is not included inside the box.
