Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launch: Here's how to watch the live stream
The phablet will be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event in New York City.
Finally, the big day has arrived. Samsung is all set to take the wraps off its flagship Galaxy Note 8 in about an hour. Smartphone enthusiasts have been waiting for this day since months. It goes without saying, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one of the most anticipated devices of this year.
The phablet will be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event in New York City. The launch event will kick off from 11 am EDT, which is 8:30 PM IST. You can watch the live stream on Samsung India's official website. Well, the South Korean company's reputation depends on the Galaxy Note 8, since its predecessor met with an unfortunate fate. Anyway, just to recall, let's go through the specs and features of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a massive 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It will have the same Infinity Display as the one seen on the Samsung Galaxy S8 duo.
Under the hood, the phablet is expected to be powered either by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or its own Exynos 8895 chipset. It will vary depending on the region. Recent reports suggest the Galaxy Note 8 will be available in three storage variants.
While all the variants will have the same amount of RAM (6GB), the internal storage capacity will vary. The basic one with 64GB of storage is said to be the global version. The higher variants with 128GB and 256GB storage space will be exclusive to the Asian market.
On the optics front, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is tipped to feature a rear dual camera setup comprising of two 12MP sensors. The primary camera will likely be wide-angle lens supporting dual photodiode (2PD), while the secondary camera might be fitted with a telephoto lens.
The handset will run on Android Nougat 7.1.1 Nougat OS right out of the box. For keeping the lights on, there will be a 3,300mAh battery unit with support for wireless charging.
The Galaxy Note 8 is likely to launch in various color options like Midnight Black, Arctic Silver, Orchid Gray/Violet, Coral Blue, Dark Blue, Deep Sea Blue, Pink, and Gold.
As for the pricing, it is speculated that the 64GB model of the Galaxy Note 8 is priced at 6,288 Yuan, which is roughly Rs. 60,500. The 128GB model will be sold for 7,088 Yuan (approximately Rs. 68,200) and the 256GB version will carry a price tag of 7,988 Yuan (approximately Rs. 77,000).
Reliable tipster Evan Blass thinks the pre-order for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will open from August 24 onwards in the US. While the phablet will be available for purchase starting from September 15.
