Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime with 13MP cameras launched in India; price starts at Rs. 12,990

After Honor and Oppo, Samsung has also launched a new mid-range smartphone in India. Dubbed as Galaxy On7 Prime, it was doing rounds of the internet since past two weeks. The smartphone was already listed on the company's official UAE site and Amazon India. So we had a fair idea of what will the Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime offer, even before the launch.

Talking about the specifications, the main highlights of the smartphone include support for Samsung Pay mini and a new Samsung Mall visual search feature. The 13MP cameras present on the device can be also considered as the USP of Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime. Another thing worth mentioning is that the device sports a metal unibody, which is not so common in this price range.

Features and specifications

The Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime is fitted with a 5.5-inch PLS TFT LCD display. The display delivers full HD resolution of 1,080×1,920 pixels and it has 16M colour depth.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. There are two variants of the Galaxy On7 Prime; one with 3GB RAM and 32GB default storage, and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The storage space is further expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card, on both the variants.

In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime is equipped with a 13MP rear camera as well as a 13MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash.

This dual-SIM smartphone is backed by a 3,300mAh battery and it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with Samsung's Experience 8.5 custom UI on top.

Connectivity suite of the smartphone offers features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, 4G LTE, a micro USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and a fingerprint sensor that is embedded into the phone's physical home button. Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime also capacitive buttons at the front.

Samsung Pay mini and Samsung Mall

As stated before, the Galaxy On7 Prime supports Samsung Pay mini. For those who are unaware, it is a mobile payment service to make secure and easy mobile wallet payments, bill payments and money transfer using UPI.

With the Samsung Mall feature users can take an image of a product in real life, or something from their gallery, and then utilize visual search to identify the product and find it across various online shopping sites. It will also let users buy the product via Samsung Mall's 'Universal Cart' feature. In addition, Samsung Mall allows users to look at products from multiple shopping sites in a single place; referred to as All-in-one Shopping.

Price, availability and launch offers

The Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime costs Rs. 12,990 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage variant. Whereas the 4GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage variant comes with a price tag of Rs. 14,990.

There are two color variants of the smartphone; Gold and Black colour variants in India. It will go on sale exclusively on Amazon Indian and the Samsung Shop from January 20 onwards.

There is one offer for JioMoney users. On the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime, they will get a Rs. 2,000 cashback if they buy the Rs. 299 recharge for 24 months. The first Rs. 800 cashback will be given after 12 months, and the remaining Rs. 1,200 will be given after the next 12 months.

HDFC Bank credit and debit card holders will also get a cashback of 10 percent but with conditions applied. If Amazon Pay users buy the smartphone with balance they will get 20 percent back. There is No Cost EMI options available.
