Samsung Galaxy S23 FE to Arrive in Q3 2023: Report

Last year, Samsung discontinued the Fan Edition (FE) model of the Galaxy S22 series amid the ongoing chip shortage. According to a new report, the South Korean firm has plans to revive the FE variant with the Galaxy S23 FE. The smartphone is rumored to launch in the third quarter, either August or September, this year.

Galaxy FE to Make a Comeback this Year

Samsung introduced the first FE model, the Galaxy S20 FE, back in 2020. The smartphone was wildly popular when it launched, with over 10 million units sold. But its successor, the S21 FE, wasn't as well received due to its inflated price. It is likely that the dismal performance of the Galaxy S21 FE, paired with the global chip shortage, forced Samsung to shelve the FE models last year. Thus, Samsung skipped the Galaxy S22 FE entirely.

A recent report has suggested that Samsung will launch a new Fan Edition Model, the Galaxy S23 FE, later this year. According to the Korean publication Hankooki, the smartphone will debut around August or September. In contrast to the S21 FE, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE might launch in more countries this time.

Not much is known about the purported Galaxy S23 FE, as leaks remain scarce. It is rumored that the smartphone may not utilize the Exynos 2300 processor. Samsung will likely opt for an older chipset like the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for the S23 FE.

Galaxy A74 Canceled in Favor of Galaxy S23 FE

In terms of sales, the Galaxy S20 FE did tremendously well, with over 10 million units sold. Following the poor performance of the S21 FE, Samsung decided to axe the FE model the following year. According to the report, the Galaxy A73's successor might suffer the same fate. The Galaxy A74 may not launch this year as Samsung is more focused on the success of the Galaxy S23 FE. It appears that the firm doesn't have much faith in its A7 series since the A73 only sold 3 million units.
