Samsung Galaxy S24 FE to Feature Underclocked Exynos 2400e SoC, Expected Launch in October
The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, or Fan Edition, is drawing closer to its global debut, expected in October 2024. Recent leaks and benchmark tests have shed light on some key features of this upcoming device, particularly its chipset.
Underclocked Exynos 2400e SoC: What We Know So Far
Samsung's Galaxy S24 FE has been the subject of multiple leaks, and one of the most intriguing aspects is its chipset. According to the latest Geekbench listing, the phone will be powered by an underclocked version of the Exynos 2400 SoC, referred to as the Exynos 2400e.

The most notable change in this chipset is in its primary Cortex-X4 core, which has been underclocked from 3.2 GHz to 3.11 GHz. Despite this, the other clusters remain unchanged. This slight reduction in clock speed may not result in a significant performance difference, but it is something to consider when evaluating the device's overall capabilities.
Geekbench Scores and Specifications
The US variant of the Galaxy S24 FE, identified by model number SM-S721U, has appeared on Geekbench with this underclocked Exynos 2400e SoC. The chipset includes one Cortex-X4 core at 3.11GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.9GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.95GHz. This setup confirms that the Exynos 2400e is a slightly less powerful variant of the standard Exynos 2400 processor, which has a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy S24 FE achieved a single-core score of 1,996 points and a multi-core score of 5,678 points on Geekbench. The device tested had 8GB of RAM and was running Android 14. These scores suggest that while the Exynos 2400e is underclocked, it still offers respectable performance for an upper-midrange device.
Regulatory Certifications and Expected Launch
The Galaxy S24 FE has already been spotted in the databases of various regulatory authorities, including the Bluetooth SIG and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), indicating that its release is imminent. The smartphone is expected to be officially unveiled in October 2024.
Reports suggest that the Galaxy S24 FE will feature a larger 6.7-inch display compared to the standard Galaxy S24 model. The screen is anticipated to offer a maximum brightness of 1,900 nits and support a high refresh rate, making it an attractive option for multimedia consumption.
The device is also rumored to come with a 4,565mAh battery, supporting both wired and wireless fast charging. Additionally, the Galaxy S24 FE is expected to be available in multiple color options, including Graphite, Blue, Silver/White, Green, and Yellow.
