Samsung Galaxy S24 & S24+ Launched: S24+ Gets 12GB of RAM, Both Get 7 Years of Software Support
Samsung has launched the Galaxy S24 series, emphasizing the role of AI while delivering practical upgrades for everyday users.
One significant improvement across the board is the adoption of LTPO displays with a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate. This feature, previously exclusive to the Ultra models, now extends to the vanilla and plus models, enhancing the overall display experience.

Galaxy S24+: A Powerhouse with QHD+ Display
The Galaxy S24+ stands out with a QHD+ resolution on its flat 6.7" display, bringing it closer to the Ultra model's visual quality at a more accessible price point. Despite maintaining a similar size to its predecessor, the S23+, the S24+ introduces a larger battery with 200mAh more capacity, totaling 4,900mAh. Additionally, all S24+ configurations now boast 12GB of RAM, aligning with the Ultra model, and offer storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
Galaxy S24: Enhanced Display and Larger Battery
The Galaxy S24, with its slightly larger 6.2" display, maintains FHD+ resolution but benefits from the upgraded LTPO technology. The peak brightness of 2,600 nits with Vision Booster is a notable improvement over the previous year's displays, which maxed out at 1,750 nits. The battery receives a modest bump of 100mAh, reaching a capacity of 4,000mAh. However, charging capabilities remain at 25W wired and 15W wireless.
An interesting development is the choice of processors. While the S24 Ultra exclusively features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, the S24 and S24+ will vary by region, utilizing either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the new Exynos 2400.
Memory Upgrades and Future-Proofing
While the S24+ and Ultra models receive memory upgrades, the base configuration of the vanilla S24 remains at 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Galaxy S24 series also boasts a commendable commitment from Samsung - 7 generations of OS updates and 7 years of security patches, ensuring longevity and future compatibility for users.
Camera Setup
In terms of camera, the S24 and S24+ maintain a familiar setup with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom. The front-facing camera remains a 12MP sensor.
Build and Connectivity
Staying consistent with previous iterations, the S24 and S24+ feature an aluminum build, unlike the Ultra, which incorporates a titanium frame. The phones are equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for durability and boast an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. Connectivity options include sub-6GHz and mmWave variants, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Software
Samsung's dedication to sustainability and extended software support is a significant departure from industry standards. As already mentioned, with a promise of seven years of updates, the Galaxy S24 series is designed to stand the test of time. As these devices hit the shelves with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, users can expect a seamless and long-lasting smartphone experience.
Samsung's AI Push
Samsung's S24 series focuses on software over hardware changes, introducing practical AI features that enhance user experience with the debut of Galaxy AI. These features, applicable across the series, offer a glimpse into the future of smartphones, emphasizing AI advancements over hardware upgrades.
