Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Cameras Disappoint! Doesn’t Crack DXOMARK’s Top 20 List

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera has been evaluated by DXOMARK, and the results are less than stellar. The device is ranked as the 24th best camera smartphone, sharing this position with the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. This suggests that DXOMARK considers the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera performance on par with Apple's two-and-a-half-year-old flagships.

In contrast, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra leads DXOMARK's rankings with a score of 163 points. Following closely are the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and HONOR Magic6 Pro, each scoring 158 points. Several other flagship devices share third place, including Apple's latest iPhones and OPPO's recent models. Notably absent from this list is the Vivo X200 Pro, which many regard as one of the top camera smartphones available.

Galaxy S25 Ultra Camera Pros and Cons

DXOMARK identified several strengths in the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera. These include excellent detail in zoom shots, particularly at long distances, good exposure levels, and a wide dynamic range in bright light video. Additionally, it delivers good photo and video detail across various conditions and maintains natural skin tones in non-challenging scenarios. The phone also offers natural video colour rendering with a neutral white balance in both bright light and indoor settings.

However, there are numerous drawbacks noted by DXOMARK. Autofocus instabilities in video mode were highlighted as a significant issue. Exposure adaptation problems also affect video quality. Furthermore, noticeable noise is present in low-light videos and high-contrast or low-light photos. Occasional white balance casts occur, especially under low-light conditions. Lastly, bokeh mode sometimes fails to activate properly.
