Samsung Is Sharing the S26 Ultra's Secret Weapon With the S27 Pro

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 series is shaping up to be different from what we've seen in recent years, and not just because of the rumoured four-model lineup. A new tip suggests the company is considering bringing one of the Galaxy S26 Ultra's standout features to the S27 Pro as well.

What the Tipster Says

According to a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station, a Chinese leaker with a reasonable track record, Samsung is currently testing its Privacy Display feature on both the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the Galaxy S27 Pro. That's notable because the feature was exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra when it launched this year.

The claim hasn't been verified, and Samsung hasn't acknowledged any of this, so take it with the usual grain of salt.

How Samsung's Privacy Display Actually Works

Unlike the plastic privacy screen protectors you can buy for any phone, Samsung's implementation is built directly into the display panel itself. It runs on what the company calls Flex Magic Pixel technology, which controls how light spreads from individual pixels using a combination of narrow and wide pixel structures.

When the privacy mode is off, the screen behaves like any other flagship AMOLED panel, with full brightness, wide viewing angles, and accurate colours. Switch it on, and the display shifts to narrow pixels that cut down side-angle visibility significantly, making it hard for anyone nearby to see your screen while keeping it perfectly clear for you.

There's also some smart automation built in. Users can set the feature to kick in automatically when typing PINs or passwords, or when opening banking and messaging apps.

What Else We Know About the Galaxy S27 Pro

The S27 Pro is still largely a mystery, but earlier reports pointed to a 6.47-inch OLED panel, a screen size Samsung hasn't used in its flagship range before. It's also expected to pull several hardware features from the S27 Ultra, though the S Pen reportedly won't be one of them.

That puts it in an interesting spot in the lineup, sitting between the Plus and Ultra without fully crossing into Ultra territory.
