Samsung officially announced the rugged smartphone, the Galaxy S6 Active. The smartphone comes with high-end specs in a tough, rugged body that can take real beating. The Korean smartphone maker just the smartphone as an AT&T exclusive in the U.S. Here is everything you need to know about the rugged smartphone.
All smartphone in the Samsung's Active lineup share design attributes to its flagship version. The Galaxy S6 Active follows this pattern with a tougher body made of plastic. The smartphone comes with extra heft which is designed to protect the device, so that the handset can survive a drop form 4 feet above onto a flat surface.
The Galaxy S6 Active is water-resistance and has an IP68 rating, which makes the first smartphone to get the highest rating in its class. The smartphone can be drown under 1.5 meter of water for 30 minutes and it will still work.
In addition to that, the S6 Active can deal with dust, extreme temperature, humidity and high altitude with being damaged. The smartphone comes in two colors options including: tones of gray and white and in navy blue and black.
Although the Galaxy S6 Active does not look much like the Galaxy S6 as it is named after, but it matches the specifications to almost perfectly.
The S6 Active sports a 5.1 inch qHD Super AMOLED display, powered by its very own Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor and paired with 3GB of RAM. It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop along with Samsung TouchWiz UI on top. It holds a 16 megapixel camera on the back and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
The smartphone packs a big 3500mAh battery that can also be charged up by a wireless charger. The device comes with Ultra Power Saving Mode that will provide up to 10 percent charge, and can charge first 50 percent battery in just 30 minutes.
Samsung just made the Galaxy S6 Active available only for AT&T in the U.S. The smartphone will be sold with an AT&T Next plan at $23.7 a month for 30 months on the Next 24 program. However, the smartphone will go on sale in stores and online retailers by the end of second week in this month.
