Samsung has launched a new color variant of its 2017 flagship Galaxy S8 in India. The smartphone now has a Burgundy Red variant, and it will be available across all retail channels. While the Galaxy S8 was launched in India at Rs. 57,990, the smartphone can be purchased at Rs. 49,990 thanks to the recent price cut.
"Galaxy S8 continues to be a bestseller, even a year after its launch. The limited edition of Galaxy S8 will set our consumers apart from everyone else. The Burgundy Red edition of Galaxy S8 will wow consumers and allow them to express their own personal style," said Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Samsung India, commenting on the launch.
With this new color variant, the Galaxy S8 is now available in India in Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Gray and Burgundy Red color options.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is fitted with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display that delivers a QHD+ resolution of 1,440×2,960 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Exynos 8895 processor. The memory aspect of the smartphone is taken care of by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage space, which can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.
On the optics front, the Galaxy S8 is equipped with a Dual Pixel 12MP AF camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), f/1.7 aperture, Max Zoom of 8x (digital) and different modes like Pro mode, Panorama, Slow motion, Hyperlapse, Food mode and an option to save photos as RAW file. At the front, the smartphone has an 8MP selfie snapper with f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens.
The Galaxy S8 is backed by a standard 3,000mAh battery with support for fast charging and wireless charging. While the smartphone was originally launched with Android Nougat, it now runs on Android Oreo OS.
The flagship device offers connectivity features like 4G LTE (Cat. 16), Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS. In addition to all these, the Galaxy S8 comes with Samsung Pay, Bixby virtual assistant and more.
