Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ to launch at MWC 2018: Officially confirmed

Samsung has now officially confirmed that the Galaxy S9 will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in the month of February.

A lot of speculations were ongoing regarding the possible launch day of Samsung's next-generation flagships. However, there is some good news for Samsung fans as well as tech enthusiasts. The South Korean company has now officially confirmed that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in the month of February.

Samsung's Mobile Communications Business President DJ Koh addressing a press conference at CES 2018 revealed that the first flagship smartphone of 2018 will be unveiled at MWC. The sales date will be announced at the event itself ZDNet has reported.

 

With this confirmation, the new flagships will be successors to the company's 2017 flagships the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Samsung is expected to announce yet another two new different variants the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ during the event.

Previous Speculations

Previously it was stated that the unveiling of the new Galaxy series flagship would happen at CES 2018. Later South Korean publication later reported that the company was planning to host a launch event for the Galaxy S9 on February 26 - the starting date of the MWC. And it seems the outlet was right.

In any case, better prepare for MWC as we will be hearing and seeing some great things from the company during the event. Besides, with the launch confirmed we have one less thing to worry about.
Having said that, the smartphones have been doing rounds in the rumor mill for quite some time now. Notably, the smartphones have been rumored to come with features like a thin-bezel, Infinity Display, and a dual camera setup.

Further, some of the past rumors have suggested that the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ would have an improved iris scanner, fingerprint sensor below its primary camera, be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC or Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC and run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ is rumored to have 6GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage and a dual camera setup. Both the Galaxy S models will most likely come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and other exciting features.

Other Announcements

Meanwhile, Koh during the press event also mentioned the presence of a foldable phone and hinted that the South Korean giant could launch the device sometime next year. He also stated the availability of Bixby 2.0 later this year and also assured that Bixby virtual assistant would be available on all Samsung devices by 2020.
